[ARCHIVED] Traffic Enforcement Grant

The City of Delafield Police Department will be conducting additional directed traffic enforcement patrols enforcing seatbelt use and speed restrictions. The grant, awarded by WI DOT, will fund an additional 61 shifts of 4 hours each between now and September, 2016. It has a total value of approximately $20,000.

The grant was applied for and awarded to Delafield Police and several other area partners in law enforcement who will work as a team to provide periodic saturation patrols. As always, this enforcement activity is not meant to raise revenue by issuing citations, but increase safety for all citizens using the roads in our city.

Patrol Officers will be conducting the extra patrols in areas where there have been complaints and/or data collected using either the covert speed recording device or one of the two portable radar traffic signs supports the additional attention.

The department reminds all drivers and their passengers that seatbelt use (including child safety seats) is mandatory in Wisconsin as regulated by state statute in Chapter 347. Speed is also regulated by state statute in Chapter 346 of state statutes.
