Deer Management Program Continues Through End of February

The second phase of the 2019-2020 City of Delafield Deer management program will start February 1st with our DNR approved Sharpshooting Program. Approve ATF/DNR sharpshooters will be in pre-selected city and DNR controlled properties in February working to harvest 50 deer.  The City Contractors will be rotating throughout several locations; Oakwood Park, Lois Jensen Preserve, the Nichols Landfill, the City Brush Drop off area, Del-hart Treatment Plant, and private property off of Genesee Street, just south of I-94.  The contractors are highly trained and use special equipment for accuracy and safety.  The contractors notify the City of Delafield Police Department and the Sheriff’s department when they are in stands.  They only harvest deer from the sanctioned locations. Harvest deer are field dressed and distributed to needy families, veterans, and/or citizens. Deer meat for this program may not be sold. If you are interested in receiving a harvested deer, please email your request to wdehn@ci.delafield.wi.us In the subject line put Deer Harvest Wanting List. Provide your Name, Address, phone number and email address. As the deer are harvested the contractor will call those and the list and ask if they would like to have deer. You are responsible for working with our contractor to pick up the carcass and processing the deer meat. For more information on the Deer Management Program please read the report at the Deer Management site.
